EPFL Drone Racing Cup 2018 at the Drone Days

Meeting at the Drone Days (at which the FAI will be presenting the second International Drones Conference and Expo), 64 top drone pilots will compete against each other in the EPFL Drone Racing Cup.

The audience around the specially-designed track will witness spectacularly fast races as drones navigate at speeds of up to 150kmph.

During the three days of the event, the race stages encompass test flights, qualifying rounds, official races, and the all-important finals, held from 13:00-16:00 on Sunday 2nd September 2018. The EPFL Drone Racing Cup 2018 is a qualifying event for the FAI Drone Racing World Cup 2018, which features no less than 20 events around the globe. A total of 485 competitors hailing from 37 different countries have signed up to take part in the events.

Outside of the competition, the schedule also includes a thrilling night race, where brightly-coloured LED lights on the drones and surrounding the track will offer a magical show for the public.

The EPFL Drone Racing Cup will take place east of the Rolex Learning Center and spectators of all ages are welcomed.

Friday 31 August
14.00-18.00: practice

Saturday 1 September
10.00-12.00: practice
13.00-18.00: qualifying round
19.00-22.00: night race (with LED-lighted track)

Sunday 2 September 
09.30-12.00: semi-finals
13.00-16.00: finals
16.30-17.00: awards ceremony
