The final qualifying event in the Sailplane Grand Prix Series 12 was held at Nowy Targ Airfield, Poland 24 - 30 May. SGP Poland had a star studded list of 20 pilots including several World Gliding Champions, among them Poland’s Sebastian Kawa. Sebastian has won 38 World Gliding Championship medals including the top place as SGP Series 10 in 2021.

After five closely run races in Tatra Mountains, with one race to go, any of the top five pilots were well placed to win the contest. With the final two places for the SGP Final at Saint Auban up for grabs, the pressure was on.

All to Race For

The final race was won by Lithuanian Gintas Zube, putting him in 2nd place overall. Stanislaw Biela from Poland came home 2nd, putting him at the top of the table to win SGP Poland. Stanislaw and Gintas have now qualified for the final two places at Series 12 SGP Finals at St Auban in France.

Sebastian Kawa, flying the new Diana 4, ended the competition in equal 3rd place with fellow Pole Marek Sawczuk. This concludes the Series 12 SGP Qualifying events. What a terrific series of competitions it has been. The SGP Final Saint Auban will be held 24 - 30 August. Don't miss what promises to be a fantastic finish to Series 12.
